5 ways to tell if your Tokaido Karate Gi is really from Japan There are a number of Tokaido uniforms not made in Japan. Most traditional karate practicioners are seeking the authentic Tokaido gi that their instructor wore in Japan, or are looking to replace a Tokaido gi they themselves purchased in Japan - decades ago. Unfortunately, the marketplace is full of uniforms with the Tokaido name but many of these are not the authentic version of Tokaido's karate uniform. https://lnkd.in/g482ZD6Z

The Essence of Karate Budo Mas Oyama's writings emphasize the importance of Budo in Karate, asserting that its absence reduces the martial art to mere sport, showmanship, or even a fashion trend. He argues that true Karate is deeply philosophical, transcending competition to become a way of life focused on serving others and aligning with natural principles. Without Budo, Oyama contends, Karate loses its substance and becomes meaningless, regardless of its popularity. His perspective highlights a distinction between a spiritual practice and a purely physical or commercial activity. This episode emphasizes a traditional, deeply principled view of Karate. https://lnkd.in/eh3-caBr

Today the world is experiencing International Karate Day and being a karate practitioner myself, it feels great to be a part of the karate community worldwide 🥋 It's been almost 8 years now I have been associated with various contact sports and karate being the first one. I started with Shotokan Karate and went on learning MMA, Muay Thai, Boxing and BJJ. These days I do not hit the dojo (karate gym) but whenever I get time I move out in nature and practice the skills I acquired over years of practice. This is something I love doing beyond data 😊 Pic : Demonstration of Mawashi Geri aka Roundhouse kick 🥋 #celebration #data

Goals—every champion’s compass. Whether you're stepping into the ring or leading an organization, clear goals are the guiding light toward success. At USA Karate (USA-NKF), these principles are helping us hit our targets: Clarity of Purpose: When every decision-maker understands the mission, the path forward becomes much clearer. Align your team around a common purpose, and watch how quickly everything falls into place. Empathy in Leadership: Our Board includes four athlete directors (myself included), bringing firsthand experience to the table. When your team truly understands and cares about those they serve, you can build something that resonates. Proactive Goal-Setting: Now is the time to set your sights on the future. Goals should be dynamic, evolving with your mission—but without them, you risk shooting in the dark. 🎯 How are you setting and adjusting your goals for success?
Listen in, as USA Karate Board President Elisa Au discusses long term goals for USA Karate and why she decided to be a part of the Board of Directors. #KarateForLife
