How To Buy The Perfect Martial Arts Judo Uniform

Whether you are a beginner or veteran in martial arts, the first thing to consider is getting the right uniform or outfit for your martial arts training. Martial arts uniforms allow the wearer maximum movement and comfort.

To start training in martial arts, your first step is to find a good school or instructor. Many martial arts schools have a specific requirement for the type or style of martial arts uniform. They prescribe different types of uniforms for different styles of martial arts. Selecting a suitable judo uniform becomes easier if you know what particular style of martial arts you are going to practice. Some styles like Tae Kwon Do and Karate have similar uniforms, while other styles like Kung Fu, Aikido, and Kendo have different-looking uniforms.

Next, you need to decide the weight of the uniform. Sometimes you may need to wear more than one type of uniform. Light, medium, or heavy uniforms may be required for different purposes. For example, some martial arts require the use of thicker and heavier canvas-type cotton uniforms for competition. They are high quality and very impressive and even sound better when you move. However, these may not be very useful for your daily training and, of course, cost a bit more. So it is better to have lighter and thinner uniforms for daily practice sessions. These may not be as durable as the heavyweight uniforms suggested for competitions, but they are sure to enhance your training and give you a sense of satisfaction.

Judo uniforms generally come in one of three weights: light, medium, and heavy.

Lightweight (about 6 oz.), Also known as a student uniform. This is usually the uniform that costs the least; It may not last as long as a medium or heavyweight, but it is great for beginners and as a second uniform for students.

Medium weight uniform (about 10 oz.). This is the most popular uniform weight. You will find that this guy can take a lot of punishments and absorb a lot of sweat. This is often the best value for your money.

Heavyweight (about 14 oz. And up), also known as an instructor or teacher uniform. An excellent choice, especially if you do a lot of hand-to-hand combat. You will find it durable, absorb more sweat, and keep you comfortable in most situations. The only complaint you hear about heavyweight judo uniforms is that they take up more space in your training bag.

Then there are the V-neck and black-collared uniforms.

You can also choose if you want a drawstring or an elastic waistband?

Judo uniform pants usually come with a drawstring at the waist. The drawstring keeps your pants secure, even if you put them on. Just make sure the hem that the lace passes through is at least twice the width of the lace itself. Otherwise, the rope may get stuck after washing the pants or soaked in sweat.

As an alternative to a drawstring, you can opt for an elastic waistband. Some people find a waistband more convenient, but I wouldn't recommend it for keeping judo pants on. If you must insist on it, make sure there is a string to back up the elastic. But then again you will need to tie a rope. Isn't it better to stop worrying about elastics? It just puts constant pressure on the lower abdomen and interferes with breathing. The decision is always yours.
